“The mission of The Butcher & Larder is to be Chicago’s first sustainable, all whole animal butcher shop.”
P&S Ep. 1 | Butcher & Larder (by Sergio Salgado)
This 3-part series on the life and death of 28 year old NHL enforcer Derek Boogaard represents truly outstanding journalism by the NYT. Accompanying the copy is a wealth of multimedia content, including an extremely well produced short documentary chronicling Boogaard’s life.
After everything that happened to his older brother, I was a bit shocked to learn Aaron Boogaard is following in Derek’s footsteps as an aspiring hockey enforcer.
This is a fascinating short film created by Chris Abbas using images released by NASA from the Cassini Saturn Mission.

Terje Sorgjerd:
A large sandstorm hit the Sahara Desert on the 9th April and at approx 3am in the night the sandstorm hit me, making it nearly impossible to see the sky with my own eyes.
Interestingly enough my camera was set for a 5 hour sequence of the milky way during this time and I was sure my whole scene was ruined. To my surprise, my camera had managed to capture the sandstorm which was backlit by Grand Canary Island making it look like golden clouds. The Milky Way was shining through the clouds, making the stars sparkle in an interesting way. So if you ever wondered how the Milky Way would look through a Sahara sandstorm, look at 00:32.

Watching this makes me wish I knew how to play the guitar.
Description: John Nese is the proprietor of Galcos Soda Pop Stop in LA. His father ran it as a grocery store, and when the time came for John to take charge, he decided to convert it into the ultimate soda-lovers destination. About 500 pops line the shelves, sourced lovingly by John from around the world. John has made it his mission to keep small soda-makers afloat and help them find their consumers. Galcos also acts as a distributor for restaurants and bars along the West Coast, spreading the gospel of soda made with cane sugar (no high-fructose corn syrup if John can avoid it).
