Willie Nelson “Just Breathe” Live on SiriusXM’s Willie’s Roadhouse HD (by sirius)
You never know what people are hiding. When Dan Oppenheimer opened the door to Jack Robinson’s apartment, for example, he had no idea what he’d discover. He knew that Robinson had been a photographer in an earlier chapter of his life that he rarely spoke of.

In this case, what was awaiting discovery was a stash of iconic photos.

“On April 20, 2012, music stars and friends will join together to celebrate the life of Johnny Cash in Austin, TX at “We Walk The Line: A Celebration of the Music of Johnny Cash.” In the year that would mark his 80th birthday, the concert, which will take place at Austin City Limits Live at The Moody Theater, will not only pay tribute to Cash and his music, but also to his roots and his heritage. Performances will include GRAMMY-winning and GRAMMY- nominated musicians Carolina Chocolate Drops, Kenny Chesney, Chris Cornell, Ronnie Dunn, Jamey Johnson, Kris Kristofferson, Ray LaMontagne, Amy Lee and Lucinda Williams, as well as performances by Brandi Carlile, Andy Grammer, John Hiatt, Shooter Jennings and Rhett Miller with more performers to be announced shortly.” Nice. I hope they televise this at some point.

I love this Pearl Jam gig poster from their concert last year in Sao Paulo, Brazil. It’s $30, and is available to Ten Club members on the band’s website.

I love the song “Post Punk Progression” by Snow Patrol for a variety of reasons. It is one of those unusual songs that consists of a single verse repeated over and over.
You won’t be around forever girl you gotta’ grab life with both hands.
That’s a visceral message, and when I started listening to the song my mom was going through treatment for terminal cancer. I used to listen to this on long runs, and my pace quickened every time it popped up on the playlist.
Interestingly, another favorite song of mine, “White Winter Hymnal” by the Fleet Foxes, is also an example of a single verse song. I get caught up in the music I hardly notice the repetitive lyrics.
Just purchased this album, which will most certainly be on my Top 10 list at the end of the year.
The Man in Black at Folsom Prison, 1968.
I wear the black for the poor and the beaten down, Livin’ in the hopeless, hungry side of town, I wear it for the prisoner who has long paid for his crime, But is there because he’s a victim of the times.

We now have cultural machines so powerful that one singer can reach everybody in the world, and make all the other singers feel inferior because they’re not like him,” Mr. Lomax once reflected. ”Once that gets started, he gets backed by so much cash and so much power that he becomes a monstrous invader from outer space, crushing the life out of all the other human possibilities. My life has been devoted to opposing that tendency.
